2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,100 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 18 trips to carry that many people.

Art For Arthritis

Art For Arthritis

I have been given the opportunity to volunteer for the”Art For Arthritis,” which pairs children with Juvenile Arthritis with local professional  artists.

Together they create beautiful and inspiring  works of art while building  pride and self esteem . I have been  paired with a delightful 7-year-old named Marianne, of James Island S.C. The paintings will go up for auction at the Annual Gala, called the “D’Vine Afffair,” to raise money for Arthritis Research, treatment, and education.

My favorite Palmetto palm was the subject of our paintings. 2012

KIDS GET ARTHRITIS TOO:  The motto for the 2013  D’Vine Affair.  Marianne and I painted together again, and our works were auctioned off at the  Affair in  September, 2013, with  the other Artists and Children.  Hundreds of people from the medical and business communities attend, and all proceeds go directly to  the Arthritis Foundation.

Daisies And Oranges

Painting with a palette knife doesn’t lend itself to realistic painting. “Daisies and Oranges” has an Impressionist look. My mentor, palette knife painter James Pratt, teaches “do not state, indicate.”

Hello and Welcome

Thank you for visiting my new website. I hope you enjoy browsing the paintings I’ve assembled here as a small representation of my work.

While I’m drawn to the beauty and colors of the South Carolina low country, I also enjoy painting scenes from the Piedmont of Virginia, where my daughter lives, as well as unique landscapes from around the country.

Most of my work is from my own photographs, and I enjoy shooting everything from the expansive beaches and marshes of our barrier islands to the flowers at the local farmer’s market. Although I primarily paint for galleries and art shows, I’m available on a commission basis. I’ve painted family portraits, special destinations and customized scenes for a specific place in a client’s home. If you have a vision you’d like to capture on canvas, I’m happy to meet with you to discuss your many options and brainstorm ideas.
